Dynamic Web Maps for the NIU Community

Sherrie Taylor has been with Northern Illinois University since 1999. She holds an undergraduate degree in Political Science, a Master's degree in Public Administration, along with a GIS Analyst Certificate all from Northern Illinois University. She has been creating statewide data portals and data dashboards for the last several years learning how to work with very large datasets and complex systems to pull all of the information together from a variety of sources and geographies to make sense out of what the data is showing. Recent clients include the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity and the Illinois Student Assistance Commission.

 

Tom Kazmierczak has worked for the Center for Governmental Studies at Northern Illinois University since 2009 when he was hired as a graduate assistant.  His duties as a research associate involve data collection and preparation, thematic mapping, and data visualization.  In addition to his ongoing role supporting the various dashboard projects CGS has undertaken, he is also responsible for creating interactive online maps for both the dashboards and other NIU initiatives.  Thomas received his Bachelor’s Degree in Geographic Information Science from Michigan State University and a Master’s Degree in Geography from Northern Illinois University.
